Welcome to the Connecticut 01 NBHA District!

Beginning in 2007 the National Barrel Horse Association established a new district in Connecticut, as the CT01 District.

The National Barrel Racing Association is a World Wide Organization with established districts throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.  Each year members of the NBHA compete in local district events where they accumulate points.  Members earning the most points are then invited to compete in the World Championships.  Visit the official NBHA website for more information and official rules @ www.NBHA.com

The NBHA is an organization dedicated to Barrel Racing of all levels.  Competitions are held in either a 3 Divisional (3D) or 4 Divisional  (4D) format.  These formats allow barrel racers of all levels to compete and have an opportunity to win money and awards.  A basic definition of these formats is that the fastest time of the day starts the 1D, in a 4D format, 1/2 second off the fastest time is the start of the 2D, 1 second off the fastest time starts the 3D and 2 seconds off the fastest time starts the 4D.  Money payouts and awards are given in each division.  The 3D format is similar except the 2D starts 1 full second off the fastest time and the 3D starts 2 full seconds off the fastest time.

The CT01 district offers 3 classes for competing...there is the Open class open to all competitors, the Youth class open the riders 18 yrs and younger, and Senior class open to riders 50 yrs and older.  The CT01 district uses the 4D format for the Open and the 3D format for Youth and Senior

The team of individuals dedicated to making the NBHA CT01 district a fun and successful club are as follows:

  • Debbie Pelletier - CT State Director  who brings 15 years of experience to the CT group.  Debbie always is working hard to promote the NBHA and her love of horses and barrel racing.  She competes both in CT and in FL throughout the year.

  • Richard Pelletier -  Returning as NBHA CT01 District Director for the 2012 season - Richard brings 15 years of experience.  He works tirelessly to have excellent ground conditions for all competitors, and just generally going above and beyond expectations for the good of the club.
